Modernized Transit Route Plan Update - February 9, 2021

The City of Whitehorse has released a What We’ve Heard report that summarizes the key findings of its public engagement on the Modernized Transit Route Plan.

Mandatory Use of Masks

Starting Monday, November 23, riders will be required to wear masks or face coverings while on board Whitehorse Transit vehicles.

Riders exempt from this requirement include:

  • Anyone with an underlying medical condition or disability which inhibits the ability to wear a mask or face covering;
  • Persons unable to place or remove a mask covering without assistance;
  • Children under 5 years of age;
  • Police or first responders in an emergency.

This requirement comes as the Government of Yukon continues to work on a potential mask policy for the territory.

Riders will be expected to bring their own masks for their journey.

The City of Whitehorse urges everyone to do their part and follow the Safe 6. Additional information on how to wear, use, and store your mask is available here.
